Concerts and Events
MUSICA will hold three concerts of choral music under the theme of “MUSICAL MOSAIC” as part of our 2023-3024 season. Each concert, featuring classical choral as well as Broadway, Rock and World Music selections, will focus on the themes of inclusion, diversity and equity by performing music by under-represented groups of choral composers. Specifically, historical choral works by women composers (from Hildegaard of Bingen through Clara Schumann), contemporary works African -American and Asian-American choral composers, (such as “ I Love You” by Alec Powell recently performed at our 2023 Gala), and, most uniquely, new choral compositions from local composers. These concerts will also feature choral works from other overlooked groups - such as the indigenous music of the Latin American Baroque.
