Musica! presents: Saints & Sinners
SAINTS AND SINNERS will be regaled by choral and solo selections in this opening concert of the 2010-11 season. Selections from musicals such as Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd and Sweet Charity, are programmed, showcasing new and veteran members of the group. The second half of the program includes Musica! favorites from the Great American Song Repertory and a wonderful set of spirituals composed/arranged by Moses Hogan, Wendell Whalum and the talented young duo of Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory. The Cloisters of the Dayton Art Institute provides an idyllic setting for the performance.

Our SOUNDS OF THE SEASON concert, to be presented at two prominent area churches, will ring in the holidays with several new Christmas arrangements and a festive medley of carols entitled A Baroque Christmas. Local early music ensemble WIND IN THE WOODS will be our special guest, lending a warm and charming touch to music of Christmases past. The second half of the concert features lighter seasonal fare, including carols by Abbie Betinis, great niece of the composer Alfred Burt. Like her great uncle, she composes an original carol every year, in her case, sponsored by Minnesota Public Radio and America Public Media. We hope you’ll make one of these concerts a family event if your relatives are home for the holidays!
